Description
Nestled along the beautiful Rushcutters Bay foreshore, just 10 minutes drive from Sydney's CBD, the club enjoys stunning harbour views and world-class facilities and offers its 2,700 members and many visitors plenty of excuses to visit regularly. The CYCA was established in 1944 and over the years has become Australia's leading exponent of ocean racing and sea safety. Its race management expertise is often called upon for other international sailing events such as the Olympics and round-the-world races. The CYCA caters for the most passionate ocean racer to the social sailor with a full calendar of mid-week summer twilight and weekend offshore racing and Sunday winter racing. While the pinnacle for the most adventurous is to take on mother nature in the annual Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, others enjoy the competitiveness and camaraderie of the shorter ocean races that are run year-round. Appreciating the popularity of one design racing, the CYCA also hosts regattas for various one design classes. One of the CYCA's most remarkable success stories is its youth training program, the Youth Sailing Academy. Since 1993, the YSA has seen thousands of students graduate from its learn to sail through to advance courses, some going on to represent their club and country on the international match racing circuit. The original marina and clubhouse is long gone and in its place is a brand new floating marina and world-class yacht club that offers five-star function rooms, alfresco dining on the deck, and all the support services a boat owner needs. Members and visitors to the CYCA enjoy being part of an active club in a superb location with state-of-the-art facilities and an international reputation that attracts yachts and crews from all over the world for the climax of the sailing calendar and one of Australia's greatest sporting icons - the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

We visited the club as guests at a wedding reception. The club has a beautiful view of the Sydney Harbour and it looks very stunning especially during the evening. The service was very courteous fast and very professional the only problem was trying to find parking close to the club.
I was really surprised at the high drinks prices. I found the food to be good, but not always accurately described on the menu. Cold Tiger prawns not properly cleaned before serving so be ready to do a lot of work during your meal if you order that.
So I sail on big boats. You find these in places like this. But he you have the best selection (read swanky) in Australia. The thock-thock-thack of poorly secured halyards on masts makes me happy.
Nice location and view. Very quiet and scenic with the yachts docked outside
Good day to all me crew mates at the CYC. Best club on the planet. Sydney Hobart one of the best ocean races on the planet.
