Description
Established in August 2004, this is Queensland's largest, self-funded astronomical observatory, designed and operated by full time astronomer James Barclay. Now located at the Kingaroy Airport - 4kms from town, the observatory is equiped with three, Meade 14 inch SCT LX200 GPS computer assisted telescopes. With these telescope and our dark (Mv 6.5) skies, we can show you up close, the Moon, Planets and Stars. We also give a green laser guided tour of the night skies and you get first-hand info on what you are looking at in the telescopes.

Tonight was not only very interesting and informative but James is a great entertainer for 2 hours and worth every cent we paid. See the night sky through 3 excellent telescopes with great information on what you are seeing. This is outside under the stars, so rug up in winter. ????
We had the best night out there. Saw starts I never even knew existed. James is an incredible teacher and has renewed my love of astronomy. Mr 7 has an incredible time and is now all about space.
Thank you so much James. We will definitly be visiting again.
Well worth the 3 hour (one way!) Drive from the Gold Coast to experience, I did the Stars and Planets show as I had done the Moon show before maybe 10 years ago in their previous location. James is very knowledgeable in astronomy and essentially lives and breathes it, he was also very prompt to reply to emails when I made an online booking, I will definitely be returning in a few month's time.
Awesome experience and James is very knowledgeable and friendly person. Kids loved looking up to the stars and planets. An awesome experience for all ages.
Best time to visit is Winter months when moon is not visible. On a clear night, one can see the milky-way stretching across the sky.
Brilliant will definitely be back again and again
