Can’t play basketball when Zumba is going on - whole reason I joined the Y here was to play basketball - there is never a good time to go. Updated response: Thank you for taking the time to review my complaint. I totally understand the distraction aspect - thanks again for responding. Will return!

Do not go here if you are a guest! Go to Fulton YMCA. We are guests from Ohio and we were trying to fit in a quick morning workout. We have been to other YMCAs before and it’s a quick verification of your name and you are off to the races. Not here. Paperwork.. reading off the info, then slowly typing in the information, reverifying spelling... painstaking slow. I asked if we could just start working out since we were on a time crunch, but Principal YMCA Receptionist insisted all paper work had to be filled out, imputed into the system and verified bevies we could use the treadmill. Good bye. Nobody’s got time for that.

I can’t believe I am having to address this again over a year later but because of recent events I felt the need to elaborate on my review. When I arrived at the property to sign up for a membership, they had minimal staff there and no one offered to show me around. The women at the front desk (Caucasian, 50’s or older, short hair, overweight) was very dismissive with me but I still reluctantly gave her my card to sign me up for a membership. I just figured she was having a bad day and let it go. I paid full price, with an upfront payment of over $200, and the monthly payment being as equally expensive, so I expected my further experience to be top level. I didn’t judge the business solely by her poor attitude, I was just excited to get back in pool. I used the spin bikes at that time, the room was very well equipped, and the spin bikes were in good quality. When I returned the next day to go swimming, I couldn’t locate the pool. A woman (Thin, blonde hair, in her 50’s) told me that they didn’t have a functioning pool onsite anymore and that I would have to use the middle school or high school pool, but they had limited schedules. (Limited being an understatement) She was kind and apologetic, but I was upset that no one told me their pool facility had been condemned. The same front desk dismissive, rude, women who signed me up for my membership was the one who “greeted” me again when I wanted to see the facility. I asked if someone could tour me and she deeply sighed and stated she would see if she could find someone to show me around. A very pleasant short blonde hair women showed me the facilities. She took me into the basement, and I was immediately hit with a musty mold smell. It was also loud from all the floor fans they had with the cardio equipment down there to “dry it out and help with the smell”. After a couple weeks of trying to use the basement cardio area, I started to development a very sore chest and a strong cough. I went to a doctor in November of 2017 and he prescribed me a nebulizer and inhalers because there was audible inflammation in my lungs. He told me stop going to the gym to see if that is the problem. I stopped using the basement cardio the issue with my lungs went away. Second appointment with the doctor at the end of November 2017 he wrote me a note on script paper stating that “using the YMCA of Oswego’s facilities was causing lung problems.” ....In January 2018 out of sheer frustration I called again, and the rude desk lady answered again, and I immediately requested to speak to the manager. She tried to get me to talk to her, but I had enough of her condescending dismissive and rude behavior. Finally, I was able to speak to a manager and she was immediately apologetic and cancelled by membership. I was still charged for November, December, and January which was ridiculous, but I just wanted to whole situation to be over by this point. I thought that was the end of it but apparently the management is retaliating do to my review of them by refusing service and correspondence with my significant other who is active duty military. After finding out that he is in relation to me, they cut off what was otherwise a healthy relationship with him because of me. Its over a year later and they still are acting very unprofessionally. To retaliate at all as a business is unethical. My significant other is an active member of the community who has volunteered his time to charity. I understand that small towns have their intimate relationships but that does not negate having generally decency and decorum.
