Gus recently took our thirteen year old daughter for a 2 hour lesson. He is the most authentic open engaging person you could ever hope to meet - a born teacher. He was in the water with our daughter the whole time helping her to paddle onto each wave, providing specific feedback about how she was going and showing her how to improve. Her confidence and ability just soared. I heartily recommend Gus to anyone wanting to learn to surf. He is an asset to the Bay.
Best investment you will ever make if you want to learn how to surf. Can’t recommend Rusty and the team highly enough. Gus will get you standing up within a couple of waves and help you progress your skills well past a standard lesson.
My girlfriend and I engaged Rusty's team for a 2 person lesson at The Pass in Byron and we were assigned to/with Gus. Wow. He was fantastic. Such a great listener and observer, which made him a great teacher. He assessed us individually and gave us each personal instruction that helped us push us and help us move ahead. Great couple of hours with Gus.
Spent the morning with Rusty giving me some helpful tips in the surf. What a guy! Amazing time!
My wife and I contacted Rusty's Surf School and arranged a lesson. I had to contact them via email because I did not have an Australian phone number. They responded back quickly and we're very helpful telling me exactly what would be covered and where we needed to meet our instructor, Taylor. My wife had never surfed before but that did not keep Taylor from having her up on her first wave. I have surfed before and Taylor gave me great tips to improve my surfing! We had a great time with Taylor and would definitely recommend Rusty's surf school for beginners and intermediate surfers alike.
