The person who worked there was bothered to help. Tried to make us feel guilty about asking his assistance and told us outright old wives tales about saving kittens. Do I look stupid to you? Only helped when he realized we weren't going away. Good luck.
I have not found my cats a a good. Home. I offer to pay money. I don't have alot at the moment I told her in the future I would be able to make food donation even .Though all the shelters are full I suggested. In Looking to reopen the old shelter for space or the park. Until they can get adopted becuase I have them at my apartment Has I'm telling her this she start a conversation with someone about a dogs and kennals . she apologized .And said that that is unlikely to happen to just go ahead and drop them off somewhere . I said that's my point why I'm calling I don't want to do that. I don't want to drop them off at your door and leave at that point she was very catty angry. at my response like I told her I wouldn't wish that $burden$ on anybody and she was to busy talking over me didn't even hear me correctly and didn't even look into the possibilities to see if those suggestions could be options and was unprofessional beginning to end the d dropping them off isn't going to help I wanted to believe in oskaloosa humane society but few years go I was supposed to adopt a puppy name shadow the day I went to get him they told me he was going to be adopt to someone even though I call before and told me I could come get him today so told lady i would be there after work went to the store got everything shadow. Would. To go there and be told I can adopt him because some else is bring in their vet to look at him even though it didn't add up I left in peace and with that mix up I give the 3 star because I know the animal's need homes. Fast forward they build much smaller fancy shelter. But yet still seem to be ran the same your heart is not in the right place. If you tell someone to abandoned their pets. Someone could had pick my pets up and took them there just to be up down. Weather you go across country give animal a good home or your local shelter either way it's still a good thing. At the moment I have lost hope in this place but hopefully in the future it will change.
We made an eight hour round trip on more than one occasion, just to come here. Caring staff takes excellent care of the people and animals. We highly recommend Stephen Memorial animal shelter!
My cat was wrongfully placed at this shelter 1 year ago and I’ve finally been able to track him to this shelter. I know he’s probably adopted by now, he’s a white and orange cat, would been be about 4 years old now. He was my SUPPORT ANIMAL that my ex guardians gave to the shelter a day before kicking me out of their house. He has a light orange circle on both of his sides (in the already orange fur) and a white belly. Greenish-orange eyes. Super spunky and has a lot of character. His name is Jack.
ryan Sebetka: these people are excellent was there yesterday and I called today to find out my dog was getting the attention he deserved. I truly believe he is well cared for there and they will find him a good forever home. Thank you guys for reassuring me kane Is in good hands.
