The Ponds School

Description

We have started this Facebook page as another way of communicating with our wider school community. We welcome questions and comments from everyone, and ask that you observe the "dinner party" rules of conversation: by all means have your opinion- it doesn't have to be the same as anyone else's, but no swearing, bullying or criticism of other individuals please. The Ponds School is a newly established school for students with moderate or severe intellectual disabilities. Many of our students have additional disabilities, including autism, physical or sensory disabilities and/or emotional disturbance. The school which is situated on a temporary site on the grounds of Riverstone High School opened in 2012 with 4 Kindergarten classes. Four additional demountable classrooms were sited for the expansion of the school to 8 classes in 2013. Students this year range in age from Kindergarten to Year 3. This expansion will continue in 2014 with the school housing 12 demountable classrooms and 12 classes. In 2015, the school will be relocated to a purpose built school accommodating up to 16 classes on the corner of The Ponds Boulevard and Greenview Parade, The Ponds. The Ponds School will then include students from Kindergarten to Year 12. We strongly believe that the greatest educational benefits for our students come from strong community ties and supporting families throughout their child’s educational journey.
