The negative reviews we read on this site were worrisome, HOWEVER, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to this beautiful, and quaint resort. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful, always there to do anything for you, they even accommodated us with a change in check in/out. We were there for the week and we had a very clean renovated room(room 105), with very comfortable beds.
This resort was especially unique in its gorgeous and expansive grounds, with a full day of on-site activities, free of charge. You can come literally come and stay on grounds all day!!
Overall a very nice older resort. I agree with others who say that the rooms could be nicer but it didn’t bother us too much. Bathroom was tiny, but functional. The view is very pretty. We enjoyed dinner on the front porch of the main building and we also ate on the deck at the pub style restaurant on the premises. We liked the food and the staff was friendly. We really liked the craft beer place also. There was an open mic night and it was fun to sit outside and listen to the music. We also enjoyed a round of golf! Nice course! The only thing I’d change is updating the rooms otherwise it’s a great place and we will be back!
We surprised our daughter for her birthday with a trip to the Poconos and Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort along with their fantastic staff, did not disappoint us!
Check in was quick and we went straight to our room to change for the indoor pool. The pool area was clean and the water was perfect. We had a double room with a view of the Delaware River. The River Room Restaurant had the freshest meals delivered to our room. It also offered pick up service and dine in service. We did both. The dine in service was the best! The entire staff came to our table with a desert with candles and sang "Happy Birthday" to our daughter!
Great quick getaway!
All the staff was very helpful and welcoming. We were able to check in a bit earlier than check in time. However the rooms are old. They need a lot of work. Our bath tub was not draining. The maintenance came to try to fix it, but nothing changed. I didn't want to even ask to switch rooms. As I just sanitized that room already due to the pandemic. So we cut short our stay instead. The surroundings are gorgeous. The view of the river gap always leaves us amazed. Some restaurants on sight, live music and some activities. However I would only come to visit the area.We will never want to stay in these rooms again.
I really want to give the Shawnee Inn a five-star review because the staff are wonderful. Unfortunately, I’d be remiss not to give my honest impression. The long story short is the hotel needs renovations, the food was poor, but the staff were all extraordinary and bend over backwards to accommodate their guests.
My wife and I had to postpone our wedding because of COVID but we eloped this July and stayed for a week after at the Shawnee Inn. We stayed in a building called the Worthington that had the most expensive suites and should NOT be available for booking. There’s some sort of sewage leak nearby making the building often have an overpowering smell of waste. I want to stress the smell is beyond an inconvenience; it’s overwhelming to the point we woke up able to taste it.
Thankfully, the staff moved us to the main building which was lovely if a little outdated (imagine 90s hotel with wallpapered bathrooms). The meals we had there left a lot to be desired as well.
I don’t have only complaints. The staff were all lovely, and we had a great time on the river canoeing activity they have available. The location is lovely with a great view of the Delaware Water Gap and lots of good hiking and shopping (at outlet stores) nearby. They have campfires, tennis courts, and of course a golf course.
In the end we had a great experience thanks to the staff’s attention to detail and their honest efforts to solve any issue that came their way. It’s unfortunate that the owners of the property don’t invest more here because it has the potential to be a thriving resort for visitors and locals alike.
