When i first came to Shelton from parish I couldn't read it was second grade and i couldn't even read my own name. After one year at Shelton I was halfway through Harry Potter series. Shelton is the best thing tat has ever happened to me. The teachers also are very skilled and very kind. I have improved majorly and will be going back to my old school in a couple years.

My husband and I are relocating to Dallas and need to find a school for dyslexia. We are coming to Dallas during our daughter's spring break and we need to visit more than one school. The Assistant Admissions Director told us that we had to dedicate 4 days at Shelton or they would not consider our daughter's application. Even after that time commitment there is no guarantee our daughter would be accepted. When I explained again that we needed to see a few schools during our time there and that we were traveling from several states away and we were taking time off work to not only find the best fit and best school for our daughter (which means we see more than one) but to also find a home, we were advised by the Director of Admissions that we could simply fly back to see other schools another time. She clearly had no regard for us as human beings...we were just a number to her and she made that very clear. We have all the required testing and our daughter has been attending a similar school in Louisville with excellent recommendations. Each of the three top schools on this list were more than willing to accommodate us and were extremely kind. To say we are disappointed in how we were treated by the admissions team at Shelton is an understatement. Clearly if this is how this school will treat you when you are a prospective student/family, imagine how you will be treated once you are a client. I guess we dodged a bullet. Geez! What ever happened to customer service or even an attempt at it?

My son attended Shelton for only one year in 4th grade. We moved to another state, so unfortunately he was unable to attend more than one year; however, that single year at Shelton proved to be a pivotal one for my son. Prior to attending he was academically a year and half below his grade level, but worst of all he was completely discouraged and would often say he was "doomed" while attending 3rd grade at a private school in Dallas. Shelton completely changed my son into being very self-confident and self assured! He now has a "can do" spirit with respect to academics and all aspects of life. Fast forward and he is in his second year of college majoring in Aerospace Engineering. He graduated from high school with honors and was accepted into all of the universities to which he applied including the #1 school in the nation for Aerospace Engineering. I shudder to think how different my son would be if he had not attended Shelton to set him on a path to success. I am deeply grateful to Shelton, the administration, and the teachers!!

My son went here for six years before we could no longer financially afford Shelton. The last year he was enrolled at the school, he tested two grade levels below where he was currently. Needless to say we were apprehensive to place him in public school (not DISD) but we financially had to choice. I can report it was the BEST move we could have made! My son is now on grade level, passed the STAR test and was on the A and B honor role his last semester. In addtion, having him away from Shelton allowed my son to mature socially. He is much more confident with himself in his daily life. Everything works out for a reason, I just wish we made the choice of leaving Shelton sooner.
