i liked the camp a lot. The food was great, activities were fun and our cabin was clean. i loved the giant swing, lost island and high ropes. The things that could be improved would be:
NOTHING
I think this is what a camp should be like. We didn't come for accommodation, or a fancy place to stay. At camp (in the bush) we should get dirty and have fun. The point of a camp is to have fun away from home with your friends. If i could come again i would.
Garlic bread was a solid 6/10 only because there wasn't enough garlic and it was more of a herb bread. However, I'm not the kind of gal to turn down garlic bread and I enjoyed it with my spaghetti.
Shout out to Bethany, who was our mad garlic bread-loving instructor. (hope you see this Beth) 10/10 coolest instructor. GARLIC BREEEAAAAD!
To be honest, camp wasn’t that bad in any way. The living spaces were decent, the activities were entertaining and the people were just a little from nice. To be fair, they had to accompany and accommodate 200 fifth and sixth graders, and I'd say they did an ‘above average’ job doing so. The only thing that would really help my experience would be just nicer people. The people and staff there were awfully passive-aggressively nice, especially the chefs and people in the cafeteria.
The experience as a whole was one I will remember, mainly because of the drama that happened in the cabins, which is something that is not at all the camp's fault, but also food. The food was a lot better than the people describe it to be. The food was definitely a change from the various serves of noodles and rice I eat normally, and it was actually quite enjoyable. It was varied and we never had any repeating main meals, apart from breakfast. The hygiene of the cafeteria and the cutlery was a whole different issue. The forks and spoons barely looked cleaned and the cups were no different. The bowls seemed to have only been rinsed, as many of the ones I used still felt oily.
Would I personally recommend this camp? Yes and no, but mainly yes. I just have to advise anyone who is doing any activities to do with trees to beware of the splinters the trees may give. I had, and still have, quite a bunch of splinters, and they are quite painful, esp the ones on my fingers. Overall, the Great Aussie Bush Camp did what it was made to do.
Pretty good place the staff here are nice and friendly and are willing to help you with activities. The food here is decent for a camp in which they need to produce high amounts of food. The accommodation I wouldn't reccomened as the mattresses are very uncomfortable making sleeping hard
I went like 2 years ago. It was fun and the instructors were fine but the food was ehhh and my friend found a toenail on her msttfess when we got there so that was gross. The beds definitely need work.
